More about Drawing and Bad Beat

This note is to clarify a few things about winning prizes and the Bad Beat pot.

You don't have to enter the drawing every week. But if not entered you are not eligible for the drawing, any prizes, the bad beat pot or any cumulative scores for prizes.

Winning on the river means you had at least one caller after the river card was dealt and the river card gave you the winning hand. Betting after the river with no callers does not count as winning on the river. If you had the winning hand after the turn and improved your hand on the river, this also is not winning on the river.

The Drawing Winner can gamble what they won against the Gambling Pool of Prizes.

Most gambling pool prizes have a small cash value if you want instead of the prize.

Don't forget to take the free pack of cards home if you are the 1st or 2nd knocked out of the game.
Be sure the score keeper gets your name on the worksheet.

Winning the Bad Beat Pot starts with the qualifying hand of 'losing with AAAKK or better' on the river. The qualifying hand will start decreasing by 2 hands per week when the pot reaches $100 and by 3 hands per week when the pot reaches $300. By decreasing the qualifying hand, someone should win before some of us are to old to play. As the pot gets larger the easier it will be to win.

The following 4 examples are for the qualifying hand of 'losing with AAAKK or better'.

Example 1: Moe has 6♠7♠ - Curly has A♠Q♠ - flop is 8♠9♠10♠ - turn is J♠ - river is K♠
This is NOT a bad beat for Moe because Curly had Moe beat on the turn.
The river card improved Curly's hand but was not needed to win.

Example 2: Moe has 6♠7♠ - Curly has A♠Q♠ - flop is 8♠9♠10♠ - turn is K♠ - river is J♠
This is a bad beat for Moe because the river card gave Curly the winning hand.

Example 3: Moe has A♥K♥ - Curly has Q♣J♣ - flop is A♣K♣10♦ - turn is 10♣ - river is A♠
Again this is NOT a bad beat for Moe because Curly had Moe beat on the turn.
The river card gave Moe the minimum qualifying hand but Curly already won on the turn.

Example 4: Moe has A♥K♥ - Curly has Q♣J♣ - flop is A♣K♣10♦ - turn is A♠ - river is 10♣
This again is a bad beat for Moe because Moe had the minimum qualifying hand on the turn.
And the river card gave Curly the winning hand. Moe loses the hand but wins the Bad Beat Pot.

It doesn't matter if the 'minimum qualifying hand' is made on the flop, turn or river.

But two things have to happen to win the Bad Beat Pot:
1. It must be the river card that makes the 'minimum qualifying hand' lose.
2. The hand has to go to a showdown.
