Bad Beat Rules Revisions
(starting at game #1 on January 7, 2010)
The Drawing started in September 2009 and the Bad Beat Pot has grown to $106. Since the Bad Beat Pot is funded by using 40% of the drawing entry fees, players contributing the most by entering the drawing often will be eligible to win more than those that don't enter often.
Some players will not want to enter the drawing for a chance to win prizes or the Bad Beat Pot. That's why entering the drawing has been optional and will stay optional. The Bad Beat Pot should grow to about $300 sometime in July with the minimum qualifying hand down to 10's/7's.
The way it will work:
The $106 will now be called the Base Pot. This is the total Bad Beat Pot before the rule revision.
Money added starting in 2010 will be called the New Pot.
Now the Base Pot ($106) + New Pot = Total Bad Beat Pot
Players who enter the drawing at every game starting in 2010:
Would win 100% of the Total Bad Beat Pot.
Back-Paying:
Being able to back-pay is so players can keep their win percentage high.
After a player enters one drawing they can back-pay $1 per week for up to 4 games missed.
Playing and not entering the drawing is not considered a game missed.
Players who entered a drawing in 2009 can back-pay all of January 2010.
Back-pay must be paid at the next game played.
New players or players who don't enter the drawing every game:
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus only a *percentage of the New Pot.
*percentage is calculated by: (drawings entered divided by total drawings starting in 2010)
Example 1: A new player starts the 10th game of 2010 and enters the drawing.
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus 10% (1/10) of the New Pot.
Example 2: A new player starts the 20th game of 2010 and enters the drawing.
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus 5% (1/20) of the New Pot.
Example 3: The player in example 2 enters again the 21th drawing starting in 2010.
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus 9.5% (2/21) of the New Pot.
Example 4: The player in example 2 enters again the 22th drawing starting in 2010.
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus 13.6% (3/22) of the New Pot.
Example 5: A player who enters the drawing with a 30% total entries starting in 2010.
Would win the Base Pot ($106) plus 30% of the New Pot.
If a player wins 100% of the total pot the Bad Beat Pot will start over the next week from the beginning.
If a player wins less than 100% of the total pot the remaining money will be used next week and the qualifying hand will decrease as scheduled. If the remaining money is more than $106 the Base Pot will stay at $106 and the rest will be the New Pot. If the remaining money is less than $106 it will be the new Base Pot. If the remaining money is less than $20 we will start the Bad Beat Pot from the beginning and add the remaining money to the pot.
